Freeze & Fuse: Succulent (Cacti) Garden and Silicone Mold Making

Description

Create a vibrant collection of 5–10 glass succulents that can be displayed individually or arranged into a beautiful, everlasting succulent garden in a container of your choice.

During the first day of class, the instructor will demonstrate how to create realistic glass succulents by packing powdered glass into silicone molds. Students will then design and create their own succulents using a variety of colored glass powders. Once completed, the molds will be frozen, allowing the glass succulents to be removed and prepared for kiln firing.

On the second day, students will assemble their finished succulent or cactus garden using the fired glass succulents, along with a container, decorative gravel, and epoxy to create a unique, permanent arrangement.

NOTE: This class will use Bullseye (COE 90) glass; however, everything learned can be applied to COE 96 glass.
